The CTK Plan for the Holidays

Christmas Eve

Saturday, 12/24 at 6:30pm

The Christmas Eve liturgy will be one of the most beautiful of the year! It will be a'cappella and lit by personal vigil candles. A trio (Fr. Tony, Dcn. Spencer, and Tyler H) will be singing William Byrd's Kyrie and Agnus Dei for 3 voices. Emily H will sing a solo of the Magnificat. A brass ensemble will join in the closing hymn of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing." During the Liturgy, there will also be the Baptisms of Clementine Melton. Find the entire liturgy here.

A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Please sign up to bring heavy h'orderves or desserts. We will toast with mulled wine or sparkling cider. After the toasts, Dcn. Spencer will lead us in a Sing Along of favorite Christmas music on the jazz piano!

Christmas Day

Sunday, 12/25 @ 10am

We will gather for Lessons and Carols and the Eucharist with an abbreviated homily. Find the entire liturgy here. Light snacks afterward, but no catechesis for adults or children, and no church-wide potluck. We figure families will want to go home. If you'd like to stay and eat with other families, you can bring a lunch for your family and eat with others who do the same, but there will be no official programming after our Sunday Liturgy.

St. Stephen, St. John, and Holy Innocents (w/kid's party)

Monday-Tuesday, 12/26-27 @ 12pm; Wednesday 12/28 @ 11am

After Christmas Day, there are three feast days that accentuate the theme of marytrdom. St. Stephen was the first Christmas martyr. St. John the Evangelist is considered a "white martyr". Holy Innocents remembers the infants killed by Herod in Bethlehem. All of these feast days will be celebrated with Holy Communion at noon. On Wednesday the 28th, all the children will be invited up close to the altar for the Liturgy. Afterward, they will enjoy a pizza party, treats, and games in the fellowship hall!

Tacky Christmas Sweater Party

Date TBD @ The Hall of Tyrannus

The men at the Hall of Tyrannus are hosting Tacky Christmas Sweater sometime during the week after Christmas. Details coming soon. While this event is open to all from the church, it is especially open to those in their 20's and 30's, and especially especially if they are single. (Read the Vicar's Note above and spread the word. ;)

Epiphany Feast and Festival

January 6 @ 6:30pm

This is our biggest party of the year! We will celebrate an elevated but abbreviated liturgy of Holy Communion. A feast will follow with a full roasted pig (to make it a proper "Boar's Head Festival)! Please sign up to bring side and desserts. After we eat, the festivities will begin. A live band will lead us in an English Country Dance. A group of CTK members will perform a comedic Epiphany themed skit. The winner of the King's Cake hunt will go on a royal procession. We might be allowed to light up our Christmas Trees. (Thus making it a true "Feast of Lights") Needless to say, you won't want to miss this event! Please RSVP and invite your friends to celebrate this high feast day!

1st Sunday after Epiphany

January 8 @ 10am

We will baptize Hannah and Dottie Farris and Alexander Headrick ! Following the Liturgy, there will be a traditional "sherry reception" with toasts and leftover King's Cake. This will be our first Agape Feast for 2023. We think we'll be danced out after the 6th, so there might be another fun activity to celebrate the Agape Feast. TBD.
